Lovely accommodation, very friendly staff and great pub food .. what more could you ask for?

We stayed overnight at The Talbot Inn whilst visiting Oxford for Uni exams. The Talbot offers accommodation above the bar/restaurant but we had rooms in the adjoining refurbished house/cottage. It consists of a number of en-suite rooms. The building is security protected, with secure key entry.

We had three rooms, a ground floor twin and a first floor double. My daughter had the twin room (no 2) which was extremely well equipt, well laid out with twin single beds, wall mounted tv, hairdryer, wardrobe, comfortable chair, dressing table, bedside cabinets, bedside lights. The bathroom is entirely tiled - fantastically clean and well laid out. Tea and coffee making facilities included. We had an upstairs double room (no 6) which had a massive queen size bed, all the furnishings of the other room, again very well decorated and furnished - obviously quite new and very nicely maintained. Everything was spotlessly clean. All the windows have blackout blinds as well as full length lined curtains.

We had drinks in the bar in the evening of arrival, we found the staff and local people very friendly and extremely helpful giving tips on getting into the city early the next morning in the best time. Traffic passes by just near the Talbot but the rooms were not noisy. Queues into the city start to build about 7.30am but we got the 100 bus into the city and were there for 8.20 (journey time approx 35 mins). It was much better than trying to find a car park and cheaper as we were told a day's parking can cost about £25! We left our car at the Talbot in its more than adequate parking spaces for free and returned later in the day.

On getting back to the Talbot Inn we had lunch in the bar - which was busy but not packed. Drinks and lunch for 3 cost us about £24. Our meals were very nicely presented, the food was good - service was excellent.

The Talbot Inn is a really friendly pub, with excellent accomodation and very good service. I would certainly recommend it to anyone visiting Oxford and the surrounding area. We will definitely be going back.
